If this is your first time updating your firmware on your BlackVue dashcam, here's everything you need to know:
Step 1. Download the latest firmware for your BlackVue DR490-2CH dashcam.
Step 2. Unzip the downloaded firmware zip file.
CAUTION: The next step will ask you to format the microSD card. Before doing so, please backup any files present on the microSD card. Formatting your memory card will erase all video files.
Step 3. Insert the BlackVue microSD card into your computer and format it (FAT32 format).
Step 4. Copy the file “bb_dr490-2ch.bin” to the formatted microSD card.
Step 5. Insert the microSD card into the dashcam and turn it on to start the update.
Step 6. After completing the update, your BlackVue will boot up and start recording.
Keep in Mind
- After the upgrade, we recommend that you let the camera run for a few minutes, then remove the memory card again so you can double check your settings such as time zone and motion detection sensitivity. This is also a good opportunity to review the videos and ensure that your camera lens position is correct!
- The microSD card must be formatted in FAT32 format (Note: the BlackVue Viewer formats in FAT32 format).
- After upgrading the firmware, please use the latest version of the BlackVue Viewer to ensure compatibility.
