Originally Nextbase was a manufacturer of in-car entertainment devices such as portable DVD players, but in 2009 they launched dash cams in the UK market. The Big Features
New to Nextbase's dash cam models 422GW, 522GW, and 622GW is built-in Amazon Alexa. You can ask Alexa to control your dash cam, play music, make phone calls, listen to audiobooks, hear the news, check the weather, control smart home devices, get directions, find parking, and more, all while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.
Nextbase's SOS Emergency Alert system is unique to the dash cam world. Available on the 322GW-622GW models, every time you enter your vehicle, your dash cam will automatically connect to your smartphone. In the event of a crash, the MyNextbase app will automatically begin a countdown timer and ring until the driver confirms on the app that they are alright. If the alert is not canceled, emergency services (fire/EMS) will automatically be contacted on your behalf with critical information such as:
- Accident Information: GPS location, heading and time of event
- Medical Information: History, allergies, blood type, doctors' details
- Personal Details: Next of kin, home address, phone number
- Car Details: Make and model, license plate number
The 622GW model is special in that it contains what3words geolocation which is able to pinpoint your vehicle to a 10-foot square location, which can be shared with emergency services or roadside assistance—even without a data connection. Combined with the emergency service alert system, you can enjoy your ride knowing you've got the world's safest dash camera at your side.
Add-On Rear or Interior Video Coverage
Worried you might want to upgrade to a dual-lens (two camera system) setup in the future? Nextbase has you covered on this as well. The Series-2 dash cameras, starting with the 322GW, come with a modular secondary camera design, meaning you can simply plug in one additional rear-facing or interior-facing camera module to the front camera USB port.
