For quite a while now, you have heard and seen us talk about the "Dashcam Defense" we offer to drivers all over the country as well in our hometown of Austin, Texas. Well, that very same Dashcam Defense can be applied to commercial vehicles. And in some cases, it is even more important. Commercial trucks have an increased size and with that comes increased responsibility: to yourself, to your company and to your fellow drivers.
You can see in the background a fleet of Peterbilt and Kenworth Vacuum Trucks that are currently employed by a fleet client of The Dashcam Store. These workhorses are protected by the "Dashcam Defense", with the AVIC View-I HD tamper-proof dashcam system installed.
Please be aware, the cameras shown here have been updated to newer and even more compact models: the new for 2018 AVIC Elite Single and Dual Lens dashcams.
The AVIC View-I HD has several advantages over other brands of fleet dashcams. One is that there are almost imperceptible from outside the vehicles. Below are 3 images that display just that.
So in this picture you can get a idea of the size of the View-I HD. This picture, taken from standing on the bumper, shows that discreet size and form factor that AVIC dashcams use.
From inside the cab, you can see that even with its small form factor, the unit itself is durable. Tamper-proof even! This dashcam is an example of the dual lens dashcam. So it will record the road ahead as well as monitor the driver. This dashcam set up is designed to protect the company and the driver in the event of something going awry.
From the driver's side of the truck's cab, you can see how little windshield real estate the View-I takes away from the drivers field of view. The second image in the group gives you very clear look at the infrared lights that are installed on the dual lens AVIC View-I. Don't let the naming convention confuse you. The infrared lights will not blind you or even distract you if you are driving at night, the infrared lights are generally invisible to the human eye. And these are no exception.
Note that the new for 2018 AVIC Elite models feature an IR light module that is roughly half the size of the module shown in these photos.
Another view of the View-I, again basically from the bumper of the truck, show the clean install of the dashcam. As you cannot see, the wiring is hidden within the molding to aid in this installation. Using the included 3M adhesive pad to secure the dashcam to the window.
Now we had said above that these heavy duty vehicles used by our professional "daylighting" company were Peterbilt trucks. The AVIC dashcams used here, previous version and the New AVIC Elite dashcam are conpatible with all brands of commercial vehicles. These include, but are certainly not limited to Volvo, Kenworth, Freightliner, Mack and Kenworth. Our fleet client here also employs the Kenworth T800, as well as the Peterbilt 365, shown in the photos in this gallery.
The AVIC dashcams shown here are not the current model, they have been upgraded, with the new AVIC Elite, in a Single or Dual Lens models. The primary upgrades are listed here:
- Upgraded resolution: Both forward-facing + inside lenses are higher resolution than the previous generations of AVIC dashcams.
- Optional WiFi: use the AVIC smartphone app to retrieve an important video clip while on the side of the road if necessary.
- Increased Capacity: Up to 128GB memory card support: store even more hours of video data if necessary.
- Format-free memory card technology: reduce the need to perform maintenance/inspection of your fleet dashcams.
